At Powder Yoga + Fitness we offer a range of different class styles for all levels and abilities. From power yoga to yin, circuit training to dance fitness and even aerial yoga too. All of our instructors offer modifications for beginner, intermediate and advanced practitioners, so there is always something for everyone. Vinyasa is a flow style of yoga class where your body movements and breath are synchronised into a moving meditation. This class moves from pose to pose seemlessly with each posture held for no more than five to eight breaths. Expect a fully balanced class of forward bending, twists and backbends with an opportunity for inversions and arm balances.
yin yang flow
The perfect class to help you find your balance. Our Yin Yang flow class plays with the balance between strength/flexibility, heating/cooling, and active/relaxing. The goal is to cultivate energy, but also to instill a deep sense of peace. The first half of the practice will incorporate Yang (movement) sequences, with poses focusing on energizing and building heat. The second half will ease into Yin (stillness), a slow & deep practice that takes the time to stretch the connective tissues in the hips, thighs, and lower spine.
A more athletic style of yoga practice, this fun and challenging class will have you moving, sweating and breathing like you never have before. With a creative mix of traditional and innovative yoga postures, get ready to play with and flow through many asanas with a powerful approach and attitude.
Each class is designed to create strength. This in turn will help to prevent injury, build fitness levels, release tension, and create more flexibility and stamina. Prepare to discover muscles you didn’t know you had!
Take traditional style yoga poses into the air using the low to the ground aerial hammock. This class focuses on integrating flexibility, alignment, strength and control and allows students to access poses they may not otherwise be able to do. Aerial yoga is an all-around workout that will ease tension in the spine and joints, build core & upper body strength, and help you become flexible and focused. All shapes, sizes, and ages can try this class. It is a fun practice that can actually be more accessible than floor based yoga.
Our Core class is all about building your baseline strength. The core is the powerhouse of our body and having good core strength is vital, not just for our yoga practice but for all the other sports that we love. The main focus of the class is to raise your heart rate and work your muscles in a full body strength and conditioning session.
Because of its core focus, this class is popular not only for building fitness, but also in rehabilitation. It can be used to progress individuals through movements that represent their day-to-day activities. The focus on strengthening the core and improving postural awareness are especially helpful for relieving and preventing back, neck and joint pain.
mindful yin stretch
Mindful Yin Stretch is designed for all levels and abilities with a slow, accessible pace, and with most of the poses done while seated or laying down. This practice is inspired by ‘Yin’ yoga and includes simple poses with longer 3 – 5 minute holds to stretch the dense connective tissue (facia) of the whole body.
We will use lots of props (blocks, straps, cushions, rollers, and balls) so you can relax, feel supported, and get deeper into the body. Throughout the long holds, there is a strong focus on being mindful, coming back to the breath, staying present in the moment, and letting go of tension in the body.
This class will help you to slow down, relax and go inwards. Science has proven that regular mindfulness practice can have powerful long-lasting effects. Mindfulness helps to activate our rest-and-digest system and begin the process of ushering our body back to a more natural and calm state. Through this practice we begin to notice our body and mind more easily let go of daily stressors and challenges. We feel calmer. We can focus more clearly. We can be more creative. We feel more balanced and comfortable in our skin.

We breathe on average 20,000 times a day yet most of us are unaware of our breaths incredible ability to transform the way we feel. Many people breathe in shallow and constricted patterns and 1 in 10 people have symptoms of dysfunctional breathing that can impact our bodies ability to funciton optimally.
Becoming the master of your breath in these sessions will help you to handle life off the mat with more calm and control.
Shake that booty to some of your favourite tunes. Expect lots of laughs, lots of sass, and a work out for your whole body. Throughout the year we will be holding different dance style classes for you to join. Usually these classes run in blocks of 3 or 4 so you can learn a choreographed routine.
